Just Stay With Me
-------------------------------------------------------
and hold me close
Alex was not having a very good week. Nikaya, the best colt in the entire stable, had injured himself again so he was out for awhile. Now the fillies were prooving difficult. Running Rose Hill was so hard when you were doing it all by yourself. Bradin of course comes by all the time to lend a helping hand but there were only certain things that the boy could do. There was a big race coming up and they already had to scratch Nikaya and now Alex was trying hard to get another colt ready for it. Not really working all that well. The colt was not as up to speed as her perfect Nikaya, but they would have to make do with what they had. The whole problem was that Alex spent so much time on Nikaya's training that she neglected the other horses and so far all of them were doing badly. Alex doesnt have the funds to hire other people to give her a hand, the only people who worked at Rose Hill were volunteers who knew that Rose Hill would come back into fame thanks to Nikaya.
Walking out of the barn office and towards the training track Alex let out a tired sigh when she saw the all too familiar chestnut fireball. Alert Bombshell was prooving very difficult to train, but that was too be expected. Alex had been very lucky to get breeding rights to a stallion with Man O War in his bloodlines. Of course that whole bloodline were full of horses that were difficult but every single one of them had prooven to be great racers except maybe a chosen few. Bomb was definetely going to be one of those horses that could make it great. She had the spirit, the heart and the legs, she just didnt like people messing with her all that much. Luckily Alex had found a jockey that was willing to put up with her and Bomb rather liked her. Though today the woman was having a very hard job at controlling her. Bomb was frisky and that could proove to be a very big problem. If the jockey could not control the horse then Bomb could run herself into the ground and for a racehorse that was never good.
Just ease her into a soft breeze to let her blow out for about half a mile. Then give her all you've got and we'll see what she has in her. Do that for a few furlongs. Alex gave the frisky filly a pat before helping load into the starting gate. This was where Bomb was at her worst. She faught and she reared but luckily the jockey was very patient and eventually the filly stood still and Alex hit the button. Alex was nearly knocked backward by the sheer force of the filly leaving the starting gate. Fear immediately nailed Alex. What if Bomb had hurt herself coming out of the starting gate? Running to the side rail Alex pulled out her stopwatch and watched her favorite filly. Bomb was fighting her rider for all she was worth but luckily the rider was holding on and holding her back. Alex grew tense as the half mile marker came up and Bomb took off. Alex hit the stop on her watch and waited patiently. Bomb was speeding like no other horse in the entire barn. Even Nikaya didnt work that hard in a training session. Bomb had a natural instinct to run and it was what she loved to do. Hitting the stop button Alex let out a happy yell as she saw that Bomb had broken the track record that had been held at Rose Hill for over 40 years. This filly was going places if she could only control that temper.
